3.1.4. Order of installation of the piston of the 1st cylinder in compression step VMT

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

At the description of the procedure it is supposed that the distributor of ignition is installed correctly. If it is necessary to expose the distributor, then determine a compression step by a compression in the cylinder, and combine ignition moment tags. the 1st cylinder is located about a radiator

Installation of the piston (or pistons) in VMT of a step of compression is an integral part of many procedures for adjustment of the engine.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Transfer the check point lever to neutral situation. Disconnect a high-voltage wire of the coil of ignition from the central conclusion of a cover of the distributor and connect to weight on the block of cylinders.
2. Uncover the distributor and find the provision of a high-voltage wire of a candle of the 1st cylinder on a cover. If this conclusion is not numbered, then determine it by a wire from a spark plug.
3. Put a tag opposite to a conclusion of a wire of the 1st cylinder.
4. Uncover the ignition distributor.
5. Turn the crankshaft a key (for a pulley bolt head) or a starter so that the mark in a pulley was combined with a tag on a plate in a forward part of the engine. On the M40 engine turn the crankshaft so that position of the runner of the distributor corresponded to compression step VMT in the 1st cylinder, then tighten before coincidence of dredging on a flywheel with a tag on the block of cylinders, observing through a window in the block.
6. If the runner indicates the tag put on the distributor case, then the piston of the 1st cylinder is in compression step VMT. Otherwise tighten the crankshaft on one whole revolution clockwise (360 °) and install the piston of the 1st cylinder in compression step VMT. If it is impossible to combine at the same time tags on a pulley and on the index of the runner, then it indicates loss of teeths of a gear wheel or a belt, or the wrong installation of a chain or a belt.
7. Now it is possible to expose in VMT of a step of compression and other pistons, having put tags opposite to other conclusions on the distributor case according to an operating procedure of cylinders and turning the crankshaft.
