2.31. The cooling system – replacement of liquid and washing

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

Works are performed on the cold engine at observance of precautionary measures (antifreeze is poisonous).

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Turn off a stopper of a mouth of a radiator or a broad tank.
2. Substitute the pallet and two flat-nose pliers turn off a drain stopper of a radiator (it is specified by an arrow) and merge liquid. If the stopper is not provided, then disconnect the lower hose from a radiator.
3. Check a condition of hoses and collars of the cooling system.

Washing

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Wash out a radiator a pure stream (deletes only a deposit), if necessary wash out special detergent (deletes stratifications of a rust). If it is not possible to wash out a radiator or if there are noticeable damages and a leak, remove a radiator and take to repare.
2. Disconnect a tank hose, merge liquid, wash out a tank and dress a hose.

Gas station of cooling liquid

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Tighten a drain stopper or attach a hose.
4-cylinder engines
2. Fill in liquid (in the ratio 60/40 waters and antifreeze) before filling of a radiator. Fill in liquid in a tank to the lower mark.
3. Without closing a stopper a radiator, warm up the engine before opening of the thermostat (it is felt on heating of the top hose).
4. Stop the engine and after cooling fill in liquid to edge of a mouth. On the M40 engine turn off a cap of an air vent at the top of a radiator and add liquid to a liquid effluence. Wrap a cap.
5. Press on the top hose, having removed with that air then wrap a radiator stopper.
6. Warm up the engine and be convinced of lack of a leak.
6-cylinder engines
7. Turn off a cap of an air vent on the thermostat (it is specified by an arrow).
8. Fill in liquid (in the ratio 60/40 waters and antifreeze) to an effluence from an air vent. Tighten a cap.
9. Establish a radiator stopper, warm up the engine before opening of the thermostat (it is felt on heating of the top hose) and having slightly released a ventilating cap, let out the air. Tighten a cap after the termination of an exit of bubbles.
10. Repeat the procedure before full removal of air.
